I have always loved this photo,

Baby

This is a friends grandchild. I take a lot of photo's, if you look to the left you will see a link to my flicker account. Give it a look, there are all types of photos on there.

I was lucky enough recently to be part of a photography show that was held here in town. They wanted prices for the photo's so I gave one. Never gave it another thought, one of the other participants is a part time pro and sells his work and the other gentlemen has been taking photos for a long time. I was shocked, very shocked and yet very very pleased when I sold some photos. One on the first day they were hung. It goes right to your head.

When you are no longer working you begin to question your role in life. Everyone thinks YES I want to be retired and then I will do what I want. Well let me tell you I wish it was that easy.

I had to take a medical retirement about 5 years ago, this was the 2nd time I had to change careers in my life due to my health. End result is I have time on my hands but I don't always have the energy to do those things. After you retire you also find that you have lots of time so you take your time.

In my case everything takes extra time. Luckily or unluckily I don't show any outside evidence of illness. Of that I am glad- most times. Strange statement I know but sometimes it would be easier if people saw something other than what to the outside world, on the days I go out looks like a fairly normal middle age woman.  You know in the mirror I still see an 18 year old ok, maybe not 18  but definately not the age I am.  I tell you this because

1. this is my blog, my place to pontificate if you will on whatever topic I so desire- I did warn you about this and

2. It may explain some of the posts you read from time to time, or simply explain the variety on the blog.  I am a people person who no longer is surrounded by people. I am trying to fill my time (hence the new habits of photography and digital scrap booking)

3. The Recipes- The career I loved and had to change was being a caterer, I was pretty damn good too. Great food great customter service. We catered weddings, Zoobilee all types of events.

4. Derby, Kansas- I grew up in this area- ok Haysville but close Derby was our nemesis in High School. My first husband and I lived on both the West and East sides of Mulvane. I started working in Derby in 1992 and we moved here in 2002.

I now serve on the Derby City Council, I have held my seat for 6 years now. For the most part I enjoy it, it helps that people need I have and to be honest there is always a little power play to thrive on.

So now you know a little more about me, Please tell me a little more about you.

I keep seeing people on the site, I really hope you all talk  a little more to me.  Don't be shy, just speak right up.
