I know, I have again not posted, cannot seem to get in the habit.
This is not a happy post, it's a damn sad post, but Larry just left to go to a figure 8 race (Thank you Brian, means I did not have to go) and we just found out minutes ago that a man who has worked for Larry for years has died. Unfortunately not the die peacefully in your sleep method either, he committed suicide- hence the WHY part of the post. Michael, you big dumb fool what the hell were you thinking. There is nothing in life bad enough to do this, I mean if you are dying from a nasty vicious painful something or other- maybe. But I won't except it for anything else and if it was over a damn woman, I just don't know what to say. This is painful, Mike was a nice guy, not a rocket scientist but sweet. One year he brought me 2 birthday cards because he said he could not decide and they both reminded him of me. One was funny and 1 was sweet. He was a painter who took his time painting, the joke usually at closing was that the painter comes with the house because Mike would be just then doing his final touch ups- as we were turning the keys over to the Buyers. He did an excellent job however, no one ever complained about his work, work habits maybe. It used to piss me off big time because you would walk into where he was working and he would be gone and all the lids would be off the 5 gallon cans, letting stuff skim over and it would stink up the house twice as bad as normal. Larry would not let me paint our walls at home, I had to get Mike to come over and he and Larry would haggle a price, but I have some very well done no paint on the ceiling walls. I will now be stuck with beige walls forever. I can see him now, in his white t-shirt, ball cap and white painter pants and tennis shoes, this was his "uniform". Well, that and a cigarette. If you are from around Mulvane, you might have known him as the Walking Painter, he could be seen walking to and from his jobs. Painting was pretty much what he had done all his life. His Dad had wanted to make sure he had a way to provide for himself. Mike had not had what most of us would consider and easy life, but he seemed to take it all in stride. He has in the past few years had to deal with some crappy things, but that was all behind him. He had a grandchild he adored and family that loved him. This is just totally senseless, but as has been pointed out he is gone and nothing will bring him back and it was a choice he made. No one knows why and we will probably never know the real reason. You will be missed Mike, I hope you have found peace now and whatever pain you were in that made you do such a thing is gone.
