Well here we are at another family holiday, you know they can really suck air. 

Now dson't take that the wrong way, it is a wonderful time to be alive and we are truly blessed.  HOWEVER, the little ditty that into every life a little rain must fall seems like monsoon season to me at the holidays...

I just called my son to wish him a Merry Christmas and those are the only words I got out of my mouth before he hung the phone up.  I suppose I am lucky that he did not say anything nasty this time and just hung up.  I should learn to be thankful for the small things.  This is just a difficult holiday in lots of respects, but life must and will go on.  We raise our children to the best of our abilities and hope we have done right by them and hope they do right by us but there are no promises or guarantees on either end. 

Reminds me of the old joke--  Question- What is life  Answer : A Magazine- How much does it cost-- A dollar-  But I don't have a dollar- That's life.

Life is what you make it and we are each given so many seconds, minutes, hours etc in this life to do with it what we will. I am choosing NOT to allow my son's attitude to change mine.  This is a choice he is making and there is nothing I can do about it except his choices. Does not make it easy or make me happy. But I have other family members and a wonderful husband who deserve a happy person for the holidays, so I will bury these feelings I have and close the door on them yet again.  I allow this door to open just a few times a year, the upset is just too much to take otherwise. Perhaps the day will come that I don't try to call on his Bday and at Christmas, but I really doubt it. He is my son and always will be. He is loved.
